The Florida Keys is among the best spring break break destinations for familes
Bahia Honda, the Florida Keys: Photo credit: Florida Trippers

If you’re looking for the best spring destinations for families then you can’t beat the Florida Keys. After all, this incredible chain of 1700 islands stretches out for 120 miles off the Southern coast of Florida.

It’s also a tropical paradise that is home to a wide array of activities that everyone in the family will love, including snorkeling, swimming, fishing, scuba diving, and more.

Therefore, regardless of what your family is interested in there is an island in the Florida Keys that will be perfect for you. However, if you have younger children then you may want to stick to Marathon since this island is home to the Dolphin Research Center where younger kids can play around in the “sprayground” before visiting dolphins, sea lions, and the birds in the on-site aviary. Additionally, the island also has several low-key beaches, like Coco Plum Beach, that are a perfect place for a swim.
Alternatively, Islamorada is a great option for pre-teens and slightly older children since the area is known for fishing charters, the history of the diving museum, kayaking, snorkeling, and boating

So, if you would like to visit the Florida Keys yourself, just fly into Key West International Airport and drive to your final destination from there. Also, be sure to rent a car upon arrival since it can be difficult to navigate the Overseas Highway in the Florida Keys without your own vehicle.

Finally, when you’re ready to unwind after a long day, spend the night at The Courtyard by Marriott on Marathon. Not only is this fabulous hotel well-located about an hour away from Key west, but this facility features a swimming pool and a wealth of kid-related activities, like the Turtle Hospital, that families will love.

Charleston is among the best spring break destinations for familes
Charleston, South Carolina

A fantastic city to visit during spring break as a family is Charleston, South Carolina.

While beautiful year-round with the live oaks dripping in Spanish moss, the brightly colored buildings, and the amazing food, springtime brings even more colors. Picture bright blooming azaleas, wisteria pouring out of courtyards, and the smell of jasmine flowing through the city. The temperatures outside are starting to warm but it is not too hot or humid just yet!

One of the best places to visit in Charleston with kids is Charles Town Landing, the original birthplace of South Carolina. In 1670 English settlers established the first European colony of the Carolinas, and parts of this history are still visible today. There are miles of wide paved trails, perfect for walking, biking, and strollers. With over 80 acres of gardens and a 20-acre natural-habitat zoo, it is easy to spend an entire day here as a family. Take Charleston’s Old South Carriage Historic Horse & Carriage Tour and enjoy sightseeing in Charleston!

Also when in Charleston, be sure to visit the Pineapple Fountain by the waterfront park! Kids are encouraged to wade in the fountain, and there are plenty of picnic areas and shade trees to relax for an afternoon. Afterward, grab some ice cream and walk along the historic Charleston Battery seawall. Try to spot dolphins in the water and look for Fort Sumter out in the distance.

Charleston is located on the east coast of South Carolina, about 2 hours north of Savannah, Georgia. The closest airport is the Charleston International Airport, 16 miles outside of downtown Charleston. The historic district is definitely a walkable area but for the rest of the city, you will need a vehicle to get around. So, renting a car at Charleston International Airport is the best and easiest way to explore the area on your own.

The best area to stay in is right in the heart of it all in the historic district. The Vendue is one of the most popular hotels in Charleston, with an amazing rooftop view overlooking the water!

Naples and Marco island on Florida are among the best spring break destinations for families

When it comes to enjoying a spring getaway with a family, Naples and Marco Island on southwest Florida’s Paradise Coast should be at the top of your list.
In the Spring it’s the dry season in southwest Florida. That means no daily storms, low humidity, and moderate temperatures. The beaches are still relatively uncrowded and the waters of the Gulf of Mexico are pleasantly warm.

Given the gentle climate at this time of year, families can enjoy any number of outdoor activities.
Water sports rule here. There are boat rentals to either take yourself sightseeing or take the kids fishing. In both cities are jet ski rentals along with stand-up paddle boards and kayaks. For a more relaxed adventure, book a dolphin tour in the Ten Thousand Islands, a shelling tour to Keewaydin Island, or a sunset catamaran cruise out into the Gulf. On a 2-Hour Marco Island Shelling and Sightseeing Boat Tour you will learn about the marine life, see mangroves and go shelling!

Naples enjoys some of the best beaches in Florida including those at the Naples Pier and Lowdermilk Park which has rentals and a concession stand.
But for a unique kid-friendly adventure nothing beats the white pristine sand at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island. To get to the outer Tigertail Beach you have to wade waist-deep across an inner lagoon. On the inner beach, there are paddling rentals, a bird-watching tower to climb, and a concession stand with tables, restrooms, and outdoor showers.

Both destinations are easily accessed from I-75, but most people arrive by flying into Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. The airport is served by many major airlines and an airport shuttle service is available. Whether you rent a car (recommended) or take a shuttle, Naples is only 30 minutes from the airport and Marco is less than an hour.

Both destinations have a long list of accommodations from luxury hotels to smaller motels. Naples Grand Beach Resort and the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa are longtime family favorites.

Let them witness the unique landscapes of the hottest place on Earth, but with pleasant spring air temperatures! Let them see a mysterious sailing stone at the Racetrack Playa and the volcanic Ubehebe Crater!

Lazing by the pool and attending a luau is only part of the fun. After all, Maui is packed with exciting kid-friendly activities.
Visit the Maui Ocean Center to learn more about the island’s underwater world, swim with turtles in Turtle Town, go on a submarine adventure, take a surf lesson, or join a snorkel tour. You can meet humpbacks up close during a whale-watching tour. In addition to these coastal activities, there are also plenty of places to visit inland, from the mystic Iao Valley to the Maui Tropical plantation. If your kids are up to it, you could even tackle the Road to Hana, try an easy waterfall hike, or watch the sunrise or sunset from the top of the Haleakala volcano.

Kahului Airport is Maui’s main airport. It’s served by both inter-island and mainland flights. It’s located along the north coast and offers easy access to the popular resort areas in West Maui and South Maui. It’s also the most popular place to pick up your rental car in Maui all major car rental companies are represented just outside the arrival hall. However, the easiest and most affordable way is to rent a car at Kahului International Airport online from your home chair and get your car ready and waiting for you at the airport on your arrival.

Most visitors choose to stay in either West Maui – home to Kapalua, Kaanapali, and Lahaina – or South Maui – home to Wailea and Kihei. Wailea is known for its luxurious family-friendly resorts such as the Four Seasons Resort Maui and the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria Resort. Other resorts, such as the Hyatt Regency Maui and the Westin Maui, can be found in Kaanapali. Kihei is where to find budget accommodations and condo rentals.

Kauai is one of the best spring break destinations for families
Kauai; Photo credit: Island + Alpine

Kauai is a perfect Spring Break destination due to its beautiful scenery, perfect weather, and many wonderful things to do! This Hawaiian island is known for its laid-back vibe with plenty of amazing places to explore.

While plenty of Kauai is rugged and adventurous, most of it is perfect for traveling families of younger or older children. The beaches are the perfect place to play in the sand and splash in the waves. Poipu Beach on the South Shore and Anini Beach on the North Shore are both great options due to their shallow entry, shady beaches, restroom and picnic facilities, and easy parking and access. Lydgate Park has a rock wall cove that is a fantastic option for the youngest children and a calm place to practice snorkeling for beginners of all ages. The large wooden playground across the street is an added bonus!

Check out the Farmer’s Market to try new tropical fruits and drink from a coconut! Miniature golf in the Botanical Garden in Princeville, Shave Ice from Uncle’s, and the Smith Family Luau will also be the highlights on any Kauai itinerary. Take advantage of the time change and head to Shipwreck beach for sunrise. Adventurous families enjoy Koloa Zipline in Kauai, while the Kauai ECO Adventure Helicopter Tour makes them admire the mind-blowing beauty of Kauai.

To get to Kauai, visitors will fly into Lihue Airport. The flight distance from the mainland west coast is about 5-6 hours, or visitors can take a short flight from other Hawaiian islands if they are island hopping.

The island of Kauai is not too large, so all activities mentioned can be accessed within an hour or two no matter where visitors choose to stay. For Spring Break, it is recommended to stay on the South Shore due to higher chances of rain on the North Shore. The Sheraton Kauai Resort and the Grand Hyatt Kauai are both exceptional options with many family-friendly amenities and amazing pools.

New Orleans is among the best spring break destinations for families
New Orleans’s Mardi Gras; Photo credit: VeggTravel

If you’re looking for the best spring destinations for families then consider a trip to New Orleans during the famous Mardi Gras Carnival
Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a must-see in a lifetime! This notorious family-friendly event happens over the two weeks before Fat Tuesday, right in the middle of spring. The closer you book to Fat Tuesday itself, the bigger and more vibrant you’ll find the parades.

New Orleans is great for families because there is so much free and varied entertainment to enjoy. From the talented dancers to the colorful krewes and performers, you will never be short of something fun for the kids. There’s so much on offer it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Popular krewes to look out for are Orpheus, Bacchus, and Endymion who have the most spectacular floats and the best throws. However, if you and the family want to get involved directly then head to a community-led event like the red bean parade where you can join in the procession. Join New Orleans Mardi Gras Walking Tour to get valuable insights into New Orleans’s culture and learn about voodoo rituals, haunted history, pirate legends, etc.

As the carnival happens during Spring you might be wondering what to pack for Mardi Gras. If you want to catch and keep the doubloons thrown from the floats, then join the other families by taking nets and big bags for all your swag.

When not enjoying the parades consider visiting the harbor and taking your children on a Swamp Boat Ride and Oak Alley Plantation Tour from New Orleans

To get to New Orleans you fly to the New Orleans International Airport. It is easy to then catch a subway from there to the French Quarter or to book a cab

The French Quarter is the most popular area to stay during Mardi Gras but also the most intense. If you have young children then avoid Bourbon Street should in the evening as this area is full of revelers partying in the clubs and streets all night long.

Check out NOPSI Hotel New Orleans in the center of New Orleans and within walking distance of the Frech Quarter. This 5-star hotel is family-friendly, and pet-friendly, and has a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace.

Riviera Maya is among the best spring break destinations for families
Riviera Maya; Photo credit: UK Every Day

One of the best times to experience rich Mexican culture is to visit Riviera Maya in spring.
Easter is one of the most important holidays in the country and Riviera Maya is a great place to celebrate this famous festival in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Riviera Maya is among the most popular spring break destinations. It is a popular vacation spot for those who like to snorkel. Kids will love discovering the diverse underwater world of the Caribbean Sea. Spotting turtles and colorful fishes will be a fun activity for the whole family.
Riviera Maya is also a short drive from many family-friendly attractions such as Xel-Há Park. Zip lines, dolphins, butterfly parks, underground rivers, and many more offer a great day out for families in Mexico.

It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes drive to get to Riviera Maya from Cancun Airport. You can rent a car at the airport or get private transportation that can accommodate the whole family. This might be the best option if you are traveling in a larger group and don’t want to drive yourself to Mexico.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa is a fantastic 4-star hotel with plenty of activities for kids. They can watch dolphin shows, join art and cooking lessons or learn a bit of Spanish. The kids club also has a mini cinema and plenty of board games that can keep the most demanding children entertained.
Moreover, Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa has a separate swimming pool for kids and a lazy river where they can spend hours exploring the tropical jungle. Spotting lizards, coatimundi or monkeys will be an exciting experience.
Parents will also enjoy this location with a great pool bar and beautiful hotel beach. Small Mayan ruins can be also found at Xaac bay, which is just a short walk from the hotel.

Puerto Vallarta is among the best spring break destinations for families
Puerto Vallarta; Photo credit: Buddy The Traveling Monkey

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is one of the best spring break destinations for families. With its beaches, food, and great weather, it’s a great spot to have fun and unwind. Plus, if you’re traveling on a budget, there are a lot of free things to do in Puerto Vallarta.

For some fun in the sun, head over to Playa Los Muertos. It’s a popular beach near the iconic Los Muertos Pier.
If you’d like a more low-key beach, however, visit Playa Olas Altas. It’s just south of where the Rio Cuale empties into the bay. It’s smaller but much less crowded.
Families will also enjoy exploring Isla Cuale. It’s a cute island in the middle of the Rio Cuale that has a few restaurants and a flea market where you’ll find all kinds of Mexican crafts. Of course, you should also visit ChocoMuseo Puerto Vallarta. Upstairs you’ll find a small exhibit with the history of chocolate and downstairs you’ll find a large variety of chocolate items. They also offer multiple workshops where you can make your own chocolate. For some more family fun, go for a Day Sailing on Banderas Bay to sail, swim, and snorkel in crystal clear blue water.

Puerto Vallarta is easy to get to. It has its own international airport, Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). From the airport to Puerto Vallarta, you can take a shuttle airport transfer, a taxi, or Uber which will take about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic and what neighborhood you’re staying in.

To stay, consider Hotel Porto Allegro Puerto Vallarta. It is in a great location and within walking distance of many attractions. A buffet breakfast is included and the hotel is only a few blocks from the beach.

Playa del Carmen is among the best spring break destinantions
Playa del Carmen; Photo credit: History Fangirl

Riviera Maya in general tops the list of the best spring break destinations in Mexico.

However, Playa del Carmen is a great place to base yourself to explore more of the Yucatan Peninsula, but it’s also the perfect place to check into an all-inclusive resort and simply relax on the beach or at your hotel for a week. This makes PDC a great place for families since different family members can tailor their experience to their needs.

Families will, of course, want to spend time together relaxing in the water and playing in the sand. But for those looking for some history and culture, there’s a lot to explore nearby. Popular excursions from Playa del Carmen include seeing the Mayan ruins of Tulum, Chichen Itza, or Coba. You can also visit local cenotes, take a day trip to visit Cozumel island, go on a boat ride, visit the MUSA underwater museum, and more. Of course, you’ll want to spend some time experiencing the lively downtown as well as seeing it come alive at night. Most restaurants in PDC are kid-friendly, and you will see many families traveling together.

You can get to Playa del Carmen by flying into Cancun or Cozumel.
If you fly into Cancun and you will need car seats for your kiddos, you will want to pre-book a shuttle to your accommodations and reserve the appropriate car seats.
If you fly into Cozumel, you will take a taxi to the ferry and take the ferry to PDC. From the ferry terminal in PDC, you will take a taxi to your destination. Both routes take time to navigate from the airport to Playa del Carmen, but it’s worth the little bit of extra time to get to this slice of paradise!

There are many types of accommodations in PDC, from all-inclusive resorts to budget hotels. We stayed in the budget-friendly Hotel San Vicente. If you look for a resort, keep your eye on the rules, as some resorts in PDC are adults-only.

Belize is among the best spring break destinations for famililes
Blue Hole, Belize: Photo credit: The Evolista

If you are looking for the best spring break destination for families that is a little off the beaten track, then it’s time for an “unBelizable” vacation!

Belize is a top spring break destination for families. There are so many fun things to do in Belize for families. Start in the Cayo district because there’s nothing better than a trip to the jungle where you’ll see tropical birds and howler monkeys in the trees while you take a horseback ride to Xunantunich Mayan ruins. In addition to seeing history up close and unparalleled views of idyllic scenery, the horseback ride adds an additional element of fun.

Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is the perfect place to let your inner explorer free. One of the top things to do is visit Rio Frio Cave which is perfect for little ones. If you are traveling with kids ages 5 and up, cave tubing in underground rivers might be the best excursion of all.

The Lodge at ChaaCreek is the ideal family resort. They offer a kids’ educational program that includes canoeing, a treasure hunt, participating in a butterfly hatchery, and other rainforest activities. Playing at the pool or taking a stroll to see exotic animals at the Belize Zoo is also great to add to your itinerary.

After living out your jungle dreams in real life, head to the beautiful beaches of the Belize Barrier Reef. Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker are great places to stay for water activities galore. On these stunning islands, you can plan a snorkeling tour to Hol Chan Marine Reserve or take a golf cart to Secret beach — both are must-sees that offer unforgettable experiences.

The best way to see the Belize Barrier Reef and the famous Great Blue Hole is a scenic flight from San Pedro. Every passenger gets a window seat for the one-hour flight and the views are nothing short of amazing.

A trip to Belize is a truly magical experience of a lifetime.

Aruba is among the best spring break destinations for families
Flamingos in Aruba; Photo credit: This Rare Earth

Aruba is a great spring break destination for families because there is so much to do here – for all ages!

Gorgeous Aruba is among the best spring break destinations in the Caribbean. Located far south in the Caribbean Sea, near Venezuela, this tropical island is an easy escape and a welcome change of pace for anyone who just experienced winter. In the spring, expect temperatures in the 80s F (27 C).

Aruba has so much to offer. Of course, it has beautiful beaches and snorkeling, as well as hiking trails on the east side of the island. Tourists can explore the rugged coastline and the colorful town. Clothing shops, candy stores, and art galleries are plentiful.
Beach activities for adventurous travelers, like parasailing, diving, and jet-skiing are all possible here! And, ATV rentals are easy to manage. There are so many great family-friendly activities in Aruba to choose from, like UTV & ATV Aruba’s Secret Beach & Cave Pool Adventure, Natural Pool Horseback Riding Tour in Aruba, and Aruba Atlantis Submarine Expedition. One can’t-miss experience for families is to visit Flamingo Beach, where about a dozen of colorful birds can be seen up close and personal in the clear blue water. Flamingo Beach is the most popular tourist attraction in Aruba. It is a must-visit even when someone visits Aruba on a cruise trip and has only one day in Aruba on the cruise itinerary. This private island is owned by Renaissance Hotel, and families staying outside of the resort can also get day passes to visit. Families are allowed to visit the flamingo side of the island between 9-10 am and enjoy the birds early in the day. Afterward, head over to Iguana Island, the other side, where the action really is! The restaurants and ocean activities are all located on this side.

Unless traveling as part of a cruise, families should fly into Queen Beatrix International Airport – the only international airport on the island. To get around the island, families should either book tours and taxis or choose to rent their own car.

On the island, a great hotel for families is the Playa Linda Beach Resort. It is located in Oranjestad, which is where many travelers choose to stay, due to the proximity to restaurants and activities. Expect sparkling pools and clean updated rooms.

Ro Celeste, Costa Rica; Photo credit: Unknown Enthusiast

Costa Rica is an awesome spring break destination for families – it’s international but easy to get to from the US, and there are a TON of exciting and fun activities that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

You can do adventure activities in the rainforest of central Costa Rica or head to the beach to chill, surf, and hang out along the coast

If you want to do some fun adventure activities, heading to La Fortuna is your best bet. There are tons of exciting things to do in La Fortuna, such as ziplining through the rainforest canopy, white water rafting, or canyoning through canyons with little streams running through them. You can also go ATVing or horseback riding through the jungle, exploring the landscape through a unique experience.

There are many hiking opportunities in La Fortuna, including the beautiful Rio Celeste Waterfall or the La Fortuna Waterfall. You can also hike around the base of the dormant Arenal Volcano!  Thanks to the thermal activity from the volcano, the La Fortuna area has many hot springs, and you can visit the free hot springs river (the Tabacon) or visit one of the many lush hot springs resorts around the area. If you’re interested in a little bit of culture, consider visiting a chocolate or coffee farm, where you get to sample and taste lots of different beans and fruits from the region.

When you’re ready for some relaxation, head to either the Caribbean or Pacific coasts for some gorgeous beaches to hang out and surf on, or even to watch monkeys or turtles

To get to Costa Rica, you can either fly into San Jose (the capital) or Liberia (a city in the northwest corner of the country). Renting a car and driving yourself is the best way to get around Costa Rica.

In La Fortuna, staying at a hot springs resort is a must- Los Lagos Spa & Thermal Resort is an excellent option with many hot springs and pools throughout the grounds.

St John, US Virgin Islands is among the best spring break destinations fro families
St John, US Virgin Islands; Photo credit: Live A Wilder Life

St. John Island in the US Virgin Islands is one of the best spring break destinations for families looking for fun, adventure, and the allure of aquamarine-tinted water.

The US Virgin Islands comprises three verdant islands: St. John, St. Croix, and St.Thomas. Each offers its own appeal, but St. John stands out for being slower-paced and less touristy. With over 60% of the island a National Park, St. John is ideal for families looking for a peaceful respite and time spent in undeveloped, pristine nature.

The best things to do in St. John with kids revolve around playing in the calm, crystal-clear water. It’s an excellent spot to learn how to snorkel, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Families will love checking out the Underwater Snorkel Trail at Trunk Bay. It’s a self-guided trail with informative plaques that teach you about native ocean life. Next, you’ll want to drive to Maho Bay to spot turtles in their natural habitat. Maho Bay is a calm, family-friendly beach with bathrooms, food, and covered picnic tables. The sea turtles are often found in the middle of Maho Bay, munching on seagrass. For families who want a little more adventure, spend a day hiking the Reef Bay Trail. It’s a 4.4-mile out-and-back trail with a 40-foot waterfall, petroglyphs, and sugar plantation ruins

With no airport on the island, you’ll need to fly to St.Thomas and then take a 20-minute ferry ride to St. John. While you can rent a car on St. Thomas, it’s much easier to take the pedestrian ferry and rent a car in St. John.

While many people choose to stay in Great Cruz Bay, families will love the Westin St. John Resort Villas for their big rooms and quiet private beach. Located on Cruz Bay, there is a kid’s center, a pool, a playground, beach rentals, and a slew of cats, roosters, and iguanas that roam the property. You might even find yourself swimming with an iguana in the pool!

Dominican Republic is among the bnest spring break destinations for families
Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a great vacation destination for families with kids because it offers amazing activities and attractions that are perfect for the entire family.
From beautiful beaches to exciting adventures, there’s something to keep everyone entertained. Plus, there are numerous family-friendly resorts offering luxurious accommodations and amenities for an unforgettable holiday experience

There is so much for families to do in The Dominican Republic.  Some popular activities include going to the beach, and visiting national parks such as 3 Eyes National Park in Santo Domingo.  For animal-loving families, you can visit Monkeyland near Punta Cana.  Parents will love the educational aspect of the tour teaching children about squirrel monkeysKids will marvel at the chance to hold an adorable squirrel monkey for a fun photo op!  If you are staying on the northern side of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata is home to Ocean World Adventure Park.  An immersive experience with sea life and tropical animals that the entire family will enjoy.  If relaxation is more your style, then check out one of the many family-friendly all-inclusive resorts. Many of these resorts offer activities such as water parks and kayaks.  Many have kids’ clubs so parents can enjoy some alone time on vacation too!

Arriving in The Dominican Republic is fairly easy coming from the United States’ east coast.  The Dominican Republic has seven airports located along the coast and close to the main tourist destinations.  There are approximately 43 non-stop flights from the U.S. on 8 different airlines.  Punta Cana is the most popular and highest-trafficked airport in the country.  We highly recommend flying here, not only because Punta Cana is a great place for families to vacation with so much to offer, but the airport itself is extremely kid friendly.  PUJ offers rides, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, and even a swimming pool for families to enjoy while they wait for their flights.

Deciding where to stay in the Dominican Republic will depend on your budget and travel style. It is good to know, that the Dominican Republic is the cheapest Caribbean island to visit. However, the country has something to suit every pocket. For those looking to relax on the beach and find an all-inclusive resort, then Punta Cana will give you the best options.  If you are seeking more sightseeing for your family, we recommend looking at Santo Domingo.  For those looking for more luxury and upscale travel head to La Romana. No matter where you choose, escaping to a warm and sunny destination in The Dominican Republic will make for an excellent spring getaway for your family. The Dominican Republic is one of the best spring break destinations for families.

St Croix is among the best spring break destinations for families
Cane Bay of St Croix; Photo credit: Fueled By Wanderlust

St. Croix is a wonderful Caribbean destination for a family vacation. This US Virgin Island features beaches with calm, gentle waters that are friendly for small kids. Parents and older kids can also enjoy activities like hiking, snorkeling, and ATV tours through beautiful tropical surroundings. Additionally, US citizens will face little hassle getting to St. Croix, as a passport is not required for entry.

The are plenty of awesome things for families to do in St. Croix. The number one activity is taking advantage of the island’s many beaches. Cane Bay Beach features remarkable snorkeling at the “Wall” just 300 yards offshore, where the sea floor suddenly plunges two miles deep along the Puerto Rico Trench. Mermaid Beach is also a great beach for dreamy white sands with practically waveless water.

Awesome day trips from St. Croix include taking a catamaran tour to Buck Island to snorkel coral reefs dating back as far as 10,000 years.  Another epic adventure for families is taking an ATV tour through St. Croix’s rainforest.  Alternatively, families can explore Christiansted’s historic sites to learn about the Danish colonial time, before grabbing lunch or dinner on the boardwalk.

To reach St. Croix, fly into Henry E. Rohlsen Airport. Direct flights are available from several US cities, including Miami, Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, and Orlando. Upon arrival, families can pick up their rental car right at the airport.  While there are taxis in St. Croix, renting a car is the easiest and most efficient way to get around.

There are wonderful places for families to stay all over St. Croix, ranging from resorts to villa rentals.  The Buccaneer Resort is just a 7-minute drive from the attractions and restaurants of Christiansted and boasts access to Mermaid Beach from its property. The Tamarind Reef Resort is a lower price-point option near Mermaid Beach that features a pool, tennis courts, restaurants, and gorgeous ocean views.
